Spring Portraits in Raleigh – Behind the Scenes with Your Favorite Plant-Loving Photographer
Let me just let you in on a little secret…
Every time I have a session—especially for Raleigh spring portraits—I arrive early. I’m not talking just 10 minutes early; I mean early enough to walk the location, scout what’s blooming, and find those perfect little spots that will make your spring portraits shine. That way, when it’s time to start, everything is perfectly in place.

As a Raleigh photographer, I’ve worked at some of the most beautiful parks, gardens, and hidden gems all over the Triangle. And one thing I’ve learned? No two sessions are ever the same. Spring brings so much new life, color, and energy—and I want to capture all of it in your photos.

Exploring Familiar Grounds: A Fresh Perspective at My Favorite Raleigh Garden
This most recent session took place at one of my favorite gardens in Raleigh. I’ve shot here more times than I can count, but this time I wanted to shake things up. I challenged myself to see it with fresh eyes, to wander off the usual paths, and to find new blooms and hidden corners I’ve never used before. And wow, did it pay off.

Now here’s where it gets a little… well, me.
There’s a TikTok video floating around of me in the middle of the session—literally pulling weeds out of a flower bed. Yep. Right in the middle of your classic high school portraits moment, I’m in there like some plant whisperer with a camera. I couldn’t help myself! If there’s something distracting in the shot, or a stray weed stealing the spotlight from your glow, you know I’m going to fix it. Gently, of course—don’t worry, I won’t disturb the garden.

Being a portrait photographer in Raleigh isn’t just about knowing how to use a camera. It’s about knowing the light, the locations, the blooms—and making sure every little detail works in your favor. Sometimes that means hyping you up with confident poses, and sometimes it means getting my hands dirty in a flower bed so your senior portraits look like they belong in a magazine.
Whether you’re dreaming of soft florals, golden light, or colorful backdrops—spring portraits are the perfect way to capture this once-in-a-lifetime season.
